About our Basement Waterproofing Systems

Our systems are based on the tried and trusted method of drainage to relieve water pressure, as opposed to trying to hold it back.

Where possible, these are installed internally, thus avoiding all the disruption to landscaping as well as the cost of external excavation.

WE HAVE A VARIETY OF DRAINAGE SYSTEMS AVAILABLE TO US TO MEET EVERY NEED, INCLUDING THE FAMOUS AND ORIGINAL WATERGUARD SYSTEM

We are pleased to offer the famous and original WaterGuard System.  The flat profile of the WaterGuard channel allows it to sit above the footer, to avoid clogging with dirt or silt washing into it.

The vertical flange which protrudes slightly above the finished floor level and against the inner face of the foundation wall allows for water from the wall to drain into the channel and not onto the floor.

This flange may be extended to the top of the foundation wall using the ThermaDry drainage membrane which is recommended if your walls are wet or evaporating moisture vapor from the ground into your home.

The WaterGuard channel is set in a bed of crushed 3/4" stone and runs around the perimeter of the basement and drains into the sump pit below floor level.

A grated channel , able to take water directly from the floor surface is placed around the water tank to prevent damage from water leaks.

Interior Basement Drainage System
A solution for thin floors / shallow footer

If your footer is shallow and you have less than 4″ of floor concrete over it our flangeless BaseDrain channel can be installed alongside the footer and the FloGuard drainage strip is laid over the top to provide a drainage route for water entering at the base of the foundation wall.

WATERGUARD BASEMENT DRAINAGE CHANNELING SYSTEM

The Waterguard channel is finally concrete over, just leaving the lip of the wall drainage flange protruding above floor level.

In this case an vapor barrier has been added in order to protect against moisture vapor ingress from the ground.

The multi-layered re-enforced vapor barrier with an anti-microbial additive provides for a really clean space in your basement.

THE ABS FLOODBUSTER SUMP AND PUMP SYSTEM

FloodBuster Sump and Pump System
The FloodBuster Sump and Pump System

The sump and pump is the heart of any basement waterproofing system based on the drainage method.

We designed the FloodBuster to be the best that the industry has to offer.

The 18″ square lid is strong enough to drive over, sits on a gas resistant compressible seal, requires no screws or bolts has no pipes or wires coming through it and…

It is translucent, enhanced by a submersible LED light with remote control, so you can see what is going on without even lifting the lid, let alone disconnecting anything!  The quiet in-line valve is housed in a clear perspex bubble so you can see the valve operate in real time!

If you are finishing your basement you can put a square of almost any floor finish over the lid, easily, with a little bit of edging strip and you would hardly know that there was a sump pit there atall!

You can read more about sumps and pumps in our blog.

The pump with it’s stainless steel body and precision engineered, low friction insides, pumps more water for less electricity use than other pumps in it’s class.

Less friction means less noise, less heat, less limescale, longer pump life and reduced running costs.

It also has a twin float switch for extra reliability and a control box with socket for emergency dialer.

With all of these features, it is understandably  more expensive than the industry standard  workhorse (Zoeller M53) which is also compatible with the FloodBuster liner and lid, so you don’t need to lose all the advantages of the FloodBuster system if a lower budget pump is the best option for you.

We will be able to help you make the right decision for your needs including back and multi-pump options.

Your needs always come first!

WATER ISN'T ALWAYS LIQUID -WATER VAPOR IS THE INVISIBLE ENEMY

You might be surprised to discover how much water vapor enters into your basement atmosphere from the ground beyond the foundation walls.

In its vapor form it is invisible but it will contribute to humidity in the whole house, through convection, and will encourage mold and mildew and all the pests like mold mites and cockroaches that follow!

All plastic vapor barriers are cheap but can be prone to condensation from the naturally occurring humidity on the inside of the basement.  Hidden behind sheetrock  condensation can give rise to mold growth and unhealthy living conditions.

That is why Advanced Basement Solutions developed the ThermaDry Basement Wall Membrane, it has solved the condensation on vapor barriers problem as well and contributing to increased comfort and reduced heating bills (and a greener planet!).

Air filled dimples on the back of the membrane add to it’s insulation value and help facilitate drainage.

You can read more about the ThermaDry Wall membrane in our article on Finishing Basements.
